First of all i stared by cutting my sheet or acrylic down to 90cm x 60 cm so the sheet could fit in the laser bed.
once i had done this it was time to import my file into a piece of software called laser system 5. this links directly with the laser cutter. you have to ensure that you have selected the right type of cut and also that you have selected the right setting for speed and power. this varies from different materials and different thicknesses. once everything was set up it was time to cut.
due to health and safety risks i had to stand with the laser cutter while it was working to make sure there were no fires and nothing went wrong during the process.
however once the laser had finished cutting i had a few problems. on the left is a picture of the locking mechanism. as you can see because it was so small the laser had cut it out but in the process made the peices far to small because the laser had melted most of the size.due to this i had to continue with out the locking mechanism and continue making anyway.
on the left is once i had stuck the layers together and about to link them all together to create the final outcome.
